  • 1988-1993 : Student, Lviv Polytechnic Institute (Ukraine), Radio Engineer Degree with honour. Topic of Diploma "Elaboration and Computer Simulation of Radar Object Recognition Method"; 
  • 1993-1995 : researcher, Lviv Research Radio Engineering Institute (Ukraine): I worked on signal and image analysis problems for object detection, tracking and recognition in radar and radiometry applications, antenna design and inverse problems; 
  • 1993-1996 : PhD student, State University "Lvivska polytechnika" (Ukraine), Faculty of Radio Engineering. Topic of PhD "Radiometry imaging system with adaptive-parametric signal processing" (Prof. Z. Grytskiv and Dr. I.Pruduys); 
  • 1996-1997 : collaborate with Institute for Condensed Matter Physics, National Academy of Science of Ukraine (Lviv, Ukraine) (Profs. M.Shovgenuk and M.Kozlovskiy): I worked on visual infromation encryption, styganography and encoding for author copyright protection; 
  • 1996-2002 : Lecturer and later Associate Professor, State University "Lvivska polytechnika" (Ukraine), Faculty of Radio Engineering, Department of Radio Engineering Devices; member of Microwave Imaging Group (Dr. I. Pruduys) and Digital Signal and Image Processing Group (Prof. Z. Grytskiv); 
  • August 1998 - January 1999: Postdoctoral Research Associate at Coordinated Science Laboratory , University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (USA) and collaborated with Image Formation and Processing Group at Backman Institute. I was participating in DARPA project "Design and Optimization of Passive and Active Imaging Radar" (Profs. R. Blahut, Y. Bresler, P. Moulin and D. Munson); 
  • February 1999-now : Department of Computer Science, University of Geneva. Currently as an Associate Professor.

  • Antenna design and sensor planning for imaging applications; 
  • Bayesian image restoration and denoising; 
  • Robust estimators and inverse problems; 
  • Stochastic image modeling; 
  • Image steganography, watermarking and data-hiding;
  • Coding in distributed networks;
  • Information-theoretic multimodal signal processing.  
  • Current research in data-hiding:  

  • information-theoretic aspects of data-hiding in part of channels with side information;
  • universal hypothesis testing;
  • robust visual hashing and physical unclonable features;
  • document authentication;
  • communication aspects of digital watermarking:
    • host interference cancellation, 
    • precoding techniques based on Tomlinson-Harashima method,
    • channel state estimation,
    • lattice codes,
    • communications in partially known channels,
  • security-capacity analysis of geometrically robust data-hiding codes;
  • attacks against watermarking and data-hiding systems;
  • high capacity watermarking for different printing technologies;
  • data-hiding in text documents;
  • stochastic information modeling for multimedia security, delivery and management;
  • perceptual watermark embedding and relationship to stochastic image models.

  • 1996: The Young Scientists award for participation in XXV General Assembly of the International Union of Radio Science (Lille, France), 1996.
  • 1998: The Best Young Author Paper "Adaptive Aperture Formation Matched with Radiometry Image Spatial Spectrum" (in co-authorship with T. Holotyak) on XII IEEE International Conference on Microwaves & Radar, MIKON'98, Krakow, Poland, May 20-22, 1998.
  • 2002: The best paper award of ITG 2002 for the paper of Year 2001.
  • 2003: Awarded SNF Professorship grant.
  • 2007: Awarded extended SNF Professorship grant.
