Sorry, I send a report with an empty URL - here it is. The old Mandriva omnibook report needs updating.
Support for my hp omnibook vt6200 was initially perfect. This changed radically with the introduction of Mandriva 10.1
Used like a desktop, my omnibook still runs perfectly with the latest Mandriva distribution (2006.0). Mandriva offers a dkms module in support of the videocard. The recent improvements for hotplugging of USB devices are fully available on the omnibook
- No battery status indication (worked before Mandriva 10.1)
- No system-controlled (ACPI) powerdown (worked before Mandriva 10.1)
- No recognition of the sound chip by sndconfig (worked before Mandriva 10.1)
- I never managed to make wireless work with Mandriva
It appears, that a kernel module dealing with specific requirements of hp omnibook laptops has been withdrawn. It is currently discussed to bring this module back to the standard distribution, which would be a dramatic improvement. As things are, I considered either changing my laptop (it has some age now) or to change distribution.
