Computational sciences

Probabilistic modeling of volcanic ashes transport

With the unige Volcanology team we are interested in modeling the ashes propagation during volcanic eruption, for hazard assessment and mitigation. In this project we want to focus on probabilistic models to address the uncertainty of certains parameters such as weather conditions.

The whole project is better suited for a master student.

Text mining and digital humanities

Cartography of french litterature evolutions

In close association with Digital Humanities, we want to extract facts and scores from a huge corpus of french litterature from 1500 to 1900. The information willthen be processed to create visualisation and to provide insights about thematic and stylistic evolutions.

The project is more suited (but not restricted) to a french-speaking studentsm, because of the source data.
