Kaveh Bazargan

Kaveh Bazargan was born in an academic Iranian family in Geneva on July 17th., 1978. After completing his primary and secondary schooling in French educational system in Asia, Africa and Europe, he received his baccalauréat (A level) BAC S (with distinction) in July 1997 from the Lycée de la Versoie in Thonon Les Bains , France. Then, he studies Applied Mathematics at the Institut of Mathematics (IMA) of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Lausanne (EPFL) . He received his Master's degree (Diplôme d'Ingénieur Matématicien EPFL) in March 2002. His master thesis covers simulation modelling and optimisation for a recovery room in the field of scheduling in cooperation with Unité Qualité des Soins , Hôpitaux Universitaires de Genève . In September 2003, he started a postgraduate programme (DEA) in Management and Technology of Information Systems. His DEA thesis is about ontology based information systems and digital museum web interfaces. He received his DEA diploma in June 2004. After that, he gained practical work experience in usability engineering and usability testing by working on the Avicenna Virtual Campus project at UNESCO Science Analysis and Policies Sector (AP/SC) in Paris.

He has been a member of BATIC3S ( Building Adaptive Three-dimensional Interfaces for Critical Complex Control Systems) project hosted by the Software Modeling and Verification (SMV) Group and the COST Action TU0801 on Semantic Enrichment of 3D City Models for Sustainable Urban Development. He has been a Ph.D. candidate and research assistant at the Information System Interfaces Group (ISI) of the Computer Sciene Department (CUI) at the University of Geneva (UNIGE) in Switzerland. His Ph.D. supervisors were Professor Gilles Falquet and Dr. Claudine Métral. His Ph.D. project topic was: "Abstract Information Visualization in Interactive 3D Virtual Environments: Conceptualization and Usability Evaluation". He received his Ph.D. in Human Computer Interaction in March 2011 from the University of Geneva, Switzerland. Since June 2011 he is a postdoc researcher working on his postdoc project entitled "Designing and Evaluating 3D Knowledge Visualization Techniques for Urban Planning" within the context of the EU-COST-Action TU0801 "Semantic enrichment of 3D city models for sustainable urban development" funded by the Swiss State Secretariat for Education and Research SER.
