Résumé:

The lattice Boltzmann method, a popular approach for simulating fluid flows, is applied to the study of particle suspensions flows. In particle suspensions, a complex behaviour results from the interaction between the fluid and the particles, especially at high concentration of particles. To understand the rheology of such two-phase flows, a first-principles numerical framework constitutes a precious tool. We developed a simple and robust model that enable the simulations of rigid spherical suspensions up to the critical concentration, at which particles are almost completely jammed, and show the accuracy of the implementation through comparison with phenomenological laws.
