Vision and plans for coming of smart society

With Dr. Seang-Tae Kim, President of National Information Society Agency (NIA), South Korea
Abstract: We are living in a speedy era in terms of technology development and social environment. The future society is expected to be a smart society which is driven by explosive smart phone usage. In this presentation, the definition and preparation of smart era will be introduced and illustrated through some examples such as smart work, smart government and smart life. Important inspiration for the preparation of smart society will be suggested.
Short bio: Dr. Seang-Tae Kim graduated from Seoul National University with a BA in English and later completed both his Masters in Politics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Ph.D in Public Administration at the University of Georgia. He has had a long and distinguished career in both academia and the public sector. Some of his most recent experience includes; Associate Professor, Chungnam National University from 1991-2000, Dean of Graduate School of Governance/Graduate School of Public Administration at Sungkyunkwan University from 2005-2008. He is appointed as a commissioner of ITU-UNESCO Global Broadband Commission and a Co-Chair of Future Network 2020 Forum.Presently, Dr. Kim is the first President of National Information Society Agency (NIA).
